Here's some highlights of the annual EMERGE KL 2008 Conference.

Indeed EMERGE gets bigger & better every year!

Brenda Bolang (13yrs old) ~ Top 4 finalist of the Indonesia Talent Search Show - Mamamia .

Her parents also happens to be pastors of a thriving church in Indonesia. Now who says PK's (pastor's kids) can't be hip & happening while impacting people at the same time? Brenda testifies that her success came not only through a relationship with God but through constant prayer & fasting.

Veteran actress Patreana Hung Bo Bo; also a fellow member of CHCKL made a first-time 'unofficial' appearance on stage. Sharing with us all her life stories which includes her 'no-life' childhood when her career took off at just the age of 4 spanning over 1000 episodes and 200 movies.

Very humble and witty, this born again actress since 1992 also shared how she had found CHCKL to be her home after years of searching for a church that she actually felt belonged.

Spotting a hairstyle associated with the "bird-nest" of the Beijing Olympics Stadium, most didn't know that she was born in the same town as Ps.Kevin which is in the quiet and less-heard of town called Sandakan in Sabah. Hung Bo Bo's appearance that night had definitely caught the attention of lotsa aunties & uncles joining this conference.

Well, all things had to come to an end, and here we are singing the classic 80's hit: That's What Friends Are For that brought us to the closing of EMERGE KL 2008

Avril Lavigne Concert Cancelled

UPDATED [Aug 23]: Avril's concert WILL GO ON as planned.

Avril's concert has been CANCELLED!

Excerpts from TheStar Online :

" Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Shafie Apdal said that the concert falls during the nation's independence period and was not a suitable time to hold such a concert.

There are a lot of events on Aug 29 and the Ministry does not want the independence and the near Ramadan month to be filled with such pop and rock culture, he said.
"As the Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage, we should be instilling good culture in the young but here we are allowing other parties to organise things. "



Something tells me Avril's fans are not too happy......

Indeed our gov. holds true the Malaysia Boleh spirit by CANCELLING this concert just slightly over a week before concert day.



But of course there's better things to look forward to like the EMERGE 2008 Conference which is gonna be held nightly at the Sunway Convention Centre from 29-31st August.

EMERGE 08 : Go-Kart Challenge

Race Day finally came!

After a short briefing by Azlan on the 'need-to-know' stuff bout karting, we were off to the tracks.

V.U. Supporters cheering on!

Leo was selected to race with the 1st group of competitors. Coming in on 3rd place, he soon found out his skills kart was not really up to par.

While he quickly returned to join the other supporters after his run....

...came my turn to tear down the tracks.

On the starting grid after 2 quick practice laps.

3..2..1.. and we're off!

Driving the turbocharged & NOS equipped fast kart, I was leading slightly over half a lap as I was having fun pushing the kart to its limits on every apex around the track.

*evil grin*

Getting all high on the constant rush of adrenaline, it was all smooth sailing until....

...I decided to head for the "imaginary pit stop" to refill petrol, go washroom, wash face, buy Sundae cone and munch on some french fries just before the final lap.

I just STOPPED and let 2 karts zoomed by JUST LIKE THAT!

The rest was history. V.U Supporters were stunned & speechless, and so was I.

EMERGE Go-Kart Competition

Updates 16 Aug 08: Read up on race day here

After my vanquished stint in the EMERGE Talentime competition, I'm now moving on to the next competition among the long list of 71; the Go Kart Competition.

Motor-heads & speed freaks are expected to drive like Schumacher on August 16th at Sunway Extreme Park. Knowing these bunch of overachiever teens, i'd better be racing with them in this:

NUMINOUS - EMERGE Talentime Preliminary Weekend [V.U. Cluster]

The day that my band NUMINOUS and I have been waiting for is finally here!

Registered ourselves and was initially the 117th participant but sweet & bubbly; mummy-to-be Juli Joe has pushed us way forward to the 20th instead.


Lugged my 18kg MOTIF synthesizer to the hall and setup like lightning speed when it got to our turn; The intro bits featuring some trance/dance elements sure did wonders in kicking things off and the rest of it went well but due to time constraints, we didnt get to do my keyz solo part & the climax of the song...but anyway..it was all good =)


In short, all the participants and also the 6 bands that performed today were superb and at some point entertaining. It's now up to the judges decision to determine who will make it to the finals.


*keeps fingers and toes crossed that we will make it to the finals*

NUMINOUS - Journey to EMERGE KL 2008

Representing V.U. Cluster, NUMINOUS is back in this year's EMERGE KL Talentime Competition.

Having jammed only for slightly over an hour a day before, we've managed to sail through the preliminary round held in CHCKL over the weekend thanks to all the support & cheers from fellow members. [mind the goreng-ness of it]

Do come and show your support for V.U. Cluster this Saturday from 10 a.m till 3 p.m as we rock it out with the other clusters at the same venue this weekend.

EMERGE Talentime V.U Cluster Preliminary Round

It's finally here! This coming Saturday nite... 9pm at CHC; The first preliminary round for the EMERGE Talentime -Band/Vocals Category.

Practice....practice...gotta get those lazy fingers movin' once again.

EMERGE KL 2008 is here!!

The highly anticipated annual EMERGE Conference is back and will be held in Sunway Convention Centre from the 29-31st August.

Drop everything else from now till end of August for there's over 71 games/competitions this year and it'd be a blast!
